Housed in a spacious 4,000-square-foot storefront at the popular RIO Washingtonian shopping center in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Locally Crafted is a community space where artists can showcase their unique products. Customers will experience seeing the items in person, rather than through an online store, allowing them to feel and see the quality in person. Locally Crafted appeals to customers who value unique items and prefer supporting makers from their community over national corporate big chain stores.
As a female-owned small business, we are invested in helping to support other small businesses. By carrying only locally made products, we are creating a bridge between local makers and interested customers, enhancing the unique character of our community and helping the local economy by supporting small businesses in the neighborhood.
At Locally Crafted we have created a space for small business owners (Makers) in the community to showcase their artisan goods, while also allowing the community to support local business owners.
Stacey Hammer and Heather Luxenberg first met when Heather was running a popup shop for her children's pre-school and Stacey was a Maker selling children's bows and accessories. As the two were talking, they realized they lived around the corner from each other and both had children of similar ages. What brought them together initially was their love of being a part of the Maker community. Now, they hope to create unique opportunities for other Makers and members of the Local Community.
